The first thing you should do before diving into any form of DLC for a game like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, is complete the game’s main storyline. Thankfully this should be too hard to accomplish before the DLC release on September 23, as the main storyline is only roughly twenty-five hours long. This means you’ll want to get started right away if you haven’t already, or that you’ll want to prioritize complete the game over playing other games for the moment. No matter what the case, make sure you complete the main storyline before heading into System Rift as the story will most likely connect in some way.

System Rift takes characters and places from different parts of the Deus Ex universe and connects them in a neat, interesting way. It even hints at some potentially ambitious new directions for the. Mankind Divided is set in 2029, two years after Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The Deus Ex series is set in a cyberpunk future rife with secret organizations and conspiracies, including the Illuminati.

Since the new DLC’s storyline is based around hacking and stealing data, it’s only reasonable to assume you’ll have to complete some form of Breach-like gameplay moment, as you did in the main storyline for Mankind Divided. To make this easier, we’d suggest heading into the Breach game mode and getting used to the controls. It works pretty similarly to the main game components, and is actually an ice little diversion that gives you that Deus Ex feeling without having to worry about cut scenes or story moments. Of course, you could also just play the main game some more, especially if you haven’t beat it yet.

Collect Triangle Codes

Triangle Codes are these small collectibles hidden through the Mankind Divided world. When found they can then be activated and scanned using the Deus Ex Universe application on an iPhone or Android powered smartphone device. From here you can unlock small snippets of story that connect to the underlying theme and plot of the game’s main storyline. It’s a great way to unlock additional information about the world, and immerse yourself into Adam Jensen’s story even more.

These are just a few of the various ways that Deus Ex fans should prepare for Mankind Divided’s first DLC. They are optional, of course, but we’d suggest doing them in order to get the most out of the new storyline and gameplay introduced by the DLC on September 23. The new story will follow Jensen as he works to help Frank Pritchard gain access to information about a secret terrorist group. To get the information you’re going to need to make the most of Jensen’s abilities, and hack your way into the most secure data network on the planet, the Palisade Blade.
